From One to Sixteen

The Story of Dog Heaven

Dog Heaven didn’t start with a big plan. It started with a single act of compassion.

One dog. One soul in need of safety, rest, and love. That first rescue taught us that sanctuary isn’t about numbers or resources, it’s about commitment. A willingness to show up for the animals no one else would.

Then came another animal. And another.

Some were old. Some were ill. Some had simply run out of time in a system that couldn’t hold space for them. But each one reminded us that worth isn’t determined by age, health, or history. Worth is inherent. And so is the right to live out your days in peace.

Before we knew it, our home became Dog Heaven: a place where rescue animals aren’t shuffled through a system. They are welcomed for life.

Today, we care for 16 animals (dogs, cats, and horses) full-time, each with their own quirks, pasts, and preferences. There are no cages here. No ticking clocks. Just open space to explore, soft beds to curl into, and a whole lot of love.

At Dog Heaven, we believe that sanctuary isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. These animals have been through enough. Here, they don’t have to earn love. They just get to receive it.

We know we can’t save them all. But for the ones we can? We give them everything.
